Wolf People :: Sponsor a Wolf :: Journey

Journey  Journey is a spirited and outgoing male. His parents are Cuan (father) and Patches (mother). His grandparents are Baci and Mimi (Patches’ parents). As a baby, he was targeted and picked on by the other pups. It was later found out that this singling out may have been the result of Journey’s congenital (present at birth) juvenile cataracts. For the first three and a half months of his life, he had learned how to cope with his blindness, eventually standing up for himself and earning his place among his healthy-sighted littermates. Shortly after his diagnosis, with the support of donations, Journey was able to have cataract surgery. Being able to see the world changed his life. Full of energy, Journey was able to see and play like any other healthy young wolf. It was not to last however; first one eye, then the other came down with sudden and severe glaucoma and the only way to end his pain was to remove each eye. Journey is an exceptional animal however, and he has transitioned into being fully blind with incredible grace. If you were to see him trotting around his enclosure from a distance you would never guess he couldn't see a thing! We are grateful to still have Journey around to love on and also grateful for what he has taught us about attitude and courage.
